My name is George McDonald, I am in excess of 60 years in age, and currently live in Mint Hill, North Carolina.
Had enough? If not, read on.
In 1984 I moved to Mint Hill, North Carolina from Alachua, Florida when I took a position as an engineer at the corporate office of the telephone company I was working for at the time. In total I was with that company for 32 years before the economy put me in a position to make a change in my employment.
I visited the Reed Gold Mine when I first moved to this area and learned of the tale of the first discovery of gold in the country. Finding gold in the panning troughs of their facility made me take that extra step and buy a gold pan to search for ‘gold nuggets’ in the many creeks of North Carolina. I still have that pan although I have obtained many other pans and additional equipment since that original purchase I cherish that pan as the token that represents the start of a fabulous hobby.
I have always been one of those people that go overboard in most of the things I do. I guess that is a trait of my family heritage. I come from a family of thirteen, eight sisters and four brothers, lost count many years ago of the nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Let’s just say there it’s a large family. At any rate, going overboard and taking extra steps to do just a little bit better that the average person has been a direction I have taken since I was a kid. I think I did better than average in sports in school, pursued most of my life with that same enthusiasm, and in this hobby, I followed the same format.
There are too many items in my past regarding the things I have accomplished in my life and most I don’t even care about so I’m guessing you won’t want to know them either. But it does give me enough information to converse about many subjects with the average person. If you came to my site for information about gold in North Carolina it is best for me to limit everything to that portion of my life.
You can see many of my gold related interests in the pages of this website, and if that’s not enough, I know a little more about myself than you do and would be happy to converse with you about me through emails or whatever methods we can come up with. I do enjoy conversing with people about the thinks I like. Sign my guestbook and make any comments you would like me to read.
Thank you for visiting!
